Issue Fifty-One out now

Long pieces,

read slowly,

four times a year.

No listicles, no hot takes, no pieces commissioned to a word count. Writers are paid on acceptance and edited properly.

a year, four issues
I In the winter of 1998 four of us put eight hundred pounds together and printed six hundred copies of something we could not really describe. We sold two hundred and gave away the rest. Twenty-eight years later the print run is eleven thousand and we still cannot describe it, which we have decided is the point. What we publish is whatever seems worth six thousand words, and what we will not publish is anything that could have been half as long.
