MOORFOLD RETROFIT · CASE STUDY 07

Nine cold terraces, one warm winter.

Maltkiln Row is a street of nine 1890s stone terraces in Halifax. The housing co-op that owns them asked us to cut the gas bills without moving anyone out. We did all nine in eleven weeks, one house at a time.

What changed on the street

We started with the one empty house to prove the method, then worked along the row with a single crew. Walls were lined inside with wood fibre board, lofts topped up to 300mm, every sash refurbished with slim double glazing, and each house got its own small heat pump in the back yard.
“The front bedroom used to be where we kept the coats. Now the kids sleep in it.”
