DRIVE FOR MARRICK COMMUNITY BUSES

Drive the dales. Home for tea.

We run eleven routes across the northern dales as a not-for-profit co-operative. Every driver becomes a member, and any surplus goes back into the timetable.
PAY
£15.10
an hour from your first shift, with Sundays and bank holidays at time and a half.
Members share the surplus each March. Last year it came to £640 a driver.
6 weeks
Rotas set well ahead
You know your shifts a month and a half out, and swaps are done on a board in the canteen.
£0
Your licence, paid for
We cover PCV training and tests in full, around £3,000, with nothing to pay back.
Free
Travel for your household
Everyone at your address rides every Marrick route for nothing, for as long as you drive.
8%
Pension from day one
Employer contribution on all of your pay, not just the part above the threshold.
18:40
The last bus leaves the depot at twenty to seven, so on most rotas you are home for tea. There are no split shifts longer than two hours.

How hiring works

About three weeks from first call to first training day
01
Ring or apply online
Ten minutes. Tell us where you live and when you can work. No CV needed.
02
Tea at the depot
Meet the drivers, look round the buses and ask about pay and rotas. About an hour.
03
A paid ride-along
Spend a morning on the 36 beside one of our trainers and see what the job really is.
04
Train, then drive
Five weeks of paid PCV training, then shadow shifts until you are ready to go solo.
