A NOTE FROM ROS
M
My father started this business with one van and a great deal of optimism, and the first thing he taught me was that nobody rings a removals firm because they are having a good week. They ring because something has happened — a job, a birth, a death, a divorce, a house that finally sold after nine months on the market. Whatever it is, they are tired and they are worried about the piano.
What I have tried to keep in fifty-two years is the bit that has nothing to do with vans. Ring us and you will speak to somebody in this building who can see the job on a screen. We will survey your house before we quote it, we will tell you if your completion date is optimistic, and we will not add anything to the invoice that was not on the quote.
We got a few things wrong along the way. We grew too fast in 2007 and had to let people go, which I have never forgotten. We are employee-owned now partly because of it.
