Live demos

The three payment types, side by side

A product checkout, a donation and a monthly subscription, each with its own button style. These are demo buttons with payments switched off, so you can click them safely.

These buttons cannot take a payment. They are a live demo of the element with no PayPal account email set, and clicking one shows a message instead of opening PayPal. On your site you add your own PayPal email and the button opens PayPal’s checkout in a new tab.

Tips & FAQ

Good to know

Do I need a PayPal business account?

You need a PayPal account that can receive payments. Enter its email address in the element.

Where does the payment happen?

On PayPal. The button opens PayPal in a new tab, and the buyer pays there. No card details touch your site.

Is there a sandbox or test mode?

No. The button always sends buyers to the live PayPal checkout. To test, use your own PayPal account with a small price and refund the payment afterwards.

How does the donation amount work?

For donations the price is not sent, so PayPal’s donation page lets the visitor choose the amount.

What happens if a subscription payment fails?

The button asks PayPal to try a failed payment again. Turn Auto Renewal off if you do not want the subscription to repeat.

Is this a replacement for WooCommerce?

No. It is a single button for a single payment or subscription. There is no cart, stock or order management.
