SCROLL Stacking cards from your own designs for Breakdance

Stack your own designs as cards that pile up on scroll

Custom Stacking Cards takes cards you design yourself and stacks them as the visitor scrolls. Build each card as a Breakdance global block, then add them to the element. Each card sticks a little lower than the one before, so the stack stays readable.

Scroll down to watch the cards stack

Three stacks, each built from Breakdance global blocks: a pottery class guide, a tasting menu with the pile effect and a class timetable that narrows as it stacks. Every card is designed separately, so each one can look different.

Step-by-step guide

A first pottery class in four cards

Four global blocks, each with its own background, text and photo. Stacking Offset: 40px, so each card sticks 40px lower than the one before and the step labels above stay visible.

Step 1 of 4

Book a taster session

Pick an evening or a Saturday morning. Sessions last two hours and there are never more than eight people at the wheels.

  • Two hours
  • Clay, tools and aprons included
  • No experience needed

Step 2 of 4

Throw your first pot

A tutor shows you how to centre the clay, open it up and pull the walls. Most people make two or three small bowls.

  • One tutor for every four people
  • Keep your best two pieces

Step 3 of 4

Glaze and fire

Come back a week later to trim and glaze your pieces. We fire them in our kiln overnight.

  • Twelve glaze colours to choose from
  • Firing included

Step 4 of 4

Take it home

Your finished pots are ready to collect ten days later. They are safe to eat from and go in the dishwasher.

  • Ready in about ten days
  • We can post them for a small fee

Pile effect

A tasting menu that fans out as it stacks

Three photo cards. Enable Pile Effect with Horizontal Offset: 10px, Scale Decrease: 2%, Rotation: 1.5 degrees and Alternate Direction on, so the cards lean left and right.

To start

Three-cheese flatbread

Mozzarella, taleggio and a drizzle of chilli honey, straight from the wood oven.

Pasta with chickpeas and spinach
Pasta

Chickpea and spinach farfalle

Roast chickpeas, wilted spinach, garlic and lemon. Vegan.

Roast chicken with vegetables
Main

Roast chicken and root vegetables

Half a free-range chicken with carrots, parsnips and a rich gravy.

Shrink on stack

A class timetable that narrows like a deck

Three bold text cards. Shrink on Stack is on with Shrink Amount: 5%, so each card is a little narrower than the one before it.

Mon, Wed and Fri, 7am

Morning flow

A steady 60-minute flow to wake the body up before work. All levels welcome.

Tue and Thu, 6pm

Strength and stretch

Slow strength work followed by long stretches. Good for runners and cyclists.

Sundays, 5pm

Restorative evening

Bolsters, blankets and long holds. The calmest hour of the week.

How it works

Three steps to a custom stack

Design the cards once, then stack them anywhere.

1

Design the cards

Create a Breakdance global block for each card. Use any layout, images or elements you like.

2

Add them to the element

Add a row for each card. In this version you paste the block's shortcode. Custom Stacking Cards V2 lets you pick the global block from a list instead.

3

Set the stacking

Set the stacking offset, the space between cards, and turn on the pile effect if you want the cards to fan out.

Features

What you can do with it

Full design freedom for each card, with stacking handled for you.

Your own card designs

Each card is a global block, so it can hold any Breakdance layout, not just a title and text.

Sticky stacking

Cards stick as you scroll. Each one sticks lower than the last by the stacking offset, so earlier cards stay visible.

Pile offsets

Turn on the pile effect to shift each card horizontally and vertically for a fanned look.

Rotation

Rotate each card by a set number of degrees, with an option to alternate direction.

Scale and shrink

Make each card slightly smaller than the one before, by scale or by width, for a layered deck look.

Card sizing

Set the card width, minimum height, padding, borders and space between cards.

Use cases

Where it works best

Anywhere you want a scrolling story with fully designed cards.

01

Process steps

Walk visitors through your process one designed card at a time.

02

Case studies

Stack project cards with images, results and a link.

03

Pricing or plans

Show each plan as its own designed card.

04

Product features

Give each feature its own layout with screenshots or video.

05

Team or services

Stack detailed cards for each person or service.

06

Reusable content

Reuse the same global block cards across several pages.

Tips & FAQ

Good to know

What is the difference between this and Custom Stacking Cards V2?

This version takes a shortcode for each card. V2 lets you choose each global block from a picker. The shortcode version is kept so existing sites keep working. Use V2 on new builds.

Where do I find the shortcode?

Each Breakdance global block has a shortcode in the form [breakdance_block blockId=123]. Paste it into the card's Shortcode field.

Can the cards have different designs?

Yes. Each card is its own global block, so every card can have a different layout, colour or content, as in the pottery demo above.

Can I use other shortcodes?

Yes. The field runs any shortcode, so a card could hold a form or a gallery from another plugin as well as a global block.

Why does a card say Shortcode not found?

That card's Shortcode field is empty. Add the global block's shortcode to fix it.

How do I stop the cards overlapping headers?

Increase the stacking offset. Each card sticks lower by that amount, so more of the card underneath stays visible.
